The Farm Garden

Our Story
My love for gardening took root in college—quite literally in the back seat of my 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, where I hauled around potted tomato plants during clinicals while finishing my degree. What started as a quirky, soil-filled sidekick to my busy student life became something much more meaningful.

Not long after, my (now) husband and I moved into a little rental with a wildly overgrown backyard. We rolled up our sleeves, cleaned it up, and carved out our first real garden space. That first season was full of trial and error, and our first proud attempts at canning—shoutout to the Ball Guide to Preserving for being our kitchen bible.

From there, our garden—and our passion—just kept growing. After moving into our first home, we doubled our garden size and filled it with everything herb and vegetable we could think of. Each year brought more learning, more love, and more jars to our pantry shelves.

Today, we have the gift of space and sunlight out at the farm. What began as a few tomatoes in a car has blossomed into The Farm Garden—a place where we grow, gather, and share the fruits of our labor with others who care about homegrown food.

Whether you're here for gardening inspiration or looking to enjoy our fresh produce and preserves, we're so glad you're part of our journey.

Get to Know Us

Our Family
We’re Megan, Ryan, and Rylee—a close-knit family based in Watertown, SD. Megan works in the office of a local church, keeping things running smoothly, while Ryan farms just outside of Henry. Our spunky little spitfire, Rylee, loves tagging along on all our gardening adventures—though she never stays clean for long! When we’re not in the garden, you’ll usually find us camping, boating, or exploring new places together. We’re passionate about growing, learning, and making memories as a family.

Meet Moose – Chief Stick Collector & Rabbit Patrol
Moose is our lovable 8-year-old yellow lab with the heart of a puppy and the energy to match. Sweet, loyal, and always up for an adventure, he spends his days out in the garden keeping a close eye on the rabbit population and proudly presenting every stick he can find—hoping you'll take a moment to throw it (again and again). Whether he’s patrolling the rows or napping in the shade, Moose is an essential part of the team and everyone's favorite four-legged greeter.

Meet Murphy - Our Little Handful
Murphy is our 6 month old puppy—born on Christmas Eve—and he’s already stolen our hearts with his adorable face and sweet personality. He loves nothing more than curling up at Megan’s feet, though his curious nature often leads him into a bit of trouble (usually involving something to chew!). Because of his playful antics, Murphy isn’t quite ready for garden duty yet, but he’s a dedicated sideline supervisor, cheering us on every step of the way.
